At around 5pm on Wednesday, December 11 a slithering intruder made its way onto Lithgow's Main Street.
A red belly black snake stopped passerby in the street and had Lithgow Police turn into snake catchers for the afternoon.

The officers had their work cut out for them when the snake slithered its way up into the engine bay of Mazda Bt-50 Ute.
Traffic was also affected and people were intrigued to see what was going on.
