Backburning operations were carried out along Old Coach Trail and Glow Worn Tunnel Road over the weekend as firefighters continued in their bid to control the enormous Gospers Mountain fire.

The Gospers Mountain fire, which is more than 300,000 hectares in size, continues to burn north of Bell, Mt Wilson, Bilpin and Mt Lagoon and east of Glen Davis.
A late wind change on Saturday evening saw the fire break containment in Newnes and burn to the east of the Wolgan Valley.
The Chifley-Lithgow RFS crews responded, with heavy plant brought in to create a new containment line.
Visibility prevented the asssistance of aircraft, the RFS stated.
The amount of smoke in the Lithgow Valley has increased overnight, with Lithgow residents waking to an eerie sun glowing through smoke haze.
"People with respiratory conditions are are affected by bush fire smoke should implement their health management plans and seek medical advice if necessary," Chifley-Lithgow RFS stated.
Take precautions such as staying indoors and closing windows.
For people in the Glen Alice, Wolgon Valley, Ovens and Olinda Valley areas, the RFS gave the following advice:
- Continue to monitor conditions.
- Be ready to take action in case conditions change.
- Follow your bush fire survival plan.
