WE hope you haven't packed away the winter woolies just yet; Lithgow could be headed for one of its coldest December days on record.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a top of just 13 degrees Celsius on Monday - almost 10 degrees below the average December maximum, though it will be several degrees above the lowest ever December maximum of 8.7 degrees recorded on December 3, 1966.
It will come on the back of a cool change expected to blow through the region tonight, with a severe weather warning now in place for the Central Tablelands.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Monday is also forecast to bring a shower or two, with a 60 per cent chance of up to 8mm of showers in the morning and afternoon.
The cold snap will hit Oberon even harder, with a forecast top of just 11 degrees for the second day of summer.
