Recognising that this is a problem facing many people, the Lithgow Parish of the Uniting Church is again offering a service in which our loved ones can be remembered in a meaningful and reverent way.
This year the service is to be held in Hoskins Memorial Uniting Church on Sunday, December 1 commencing at 9.30am.
During the service the names of those people for whom funerals have been held in the church over the last twelve months will be read out and family members or friends of the deceased will be encouraged to come forward and light a candle in their memory.
Afterwards there will be an opportunity for any person present to come forward and light a candle in memory of any loved one they have lost.
Over the years that this service has been held many local people have expressed their appreciation for the chance to remember their loss in such a way that both honours the dead and allows the grieving process to be that little bit easier.
The service on December 1 is open to all members of the community and will be followed by morning tea in the parish centre.
