It's your last chance to check out the Lithgow Musical Society's production of 'We Will Rock You' continues at St Patrick's Primary School. Tickets available at the door. It will be held on Friday, November 29 at 7.30pm and Saturday, November 30 at 7.30pm.
Exhibition
Hartley, November 30-December 1
Adorn, including forged iron sculptures with a jewellery theme, will be held in the historic Corney's Garage, below Talisman Gallery, from November 30 to December 1, with an official opening at 2pm on the Saturday.

Hartley, November 30-December 8
Santa is set to visit the paddocks of Hartley again this year. You and your four-legged friends can have your picture taken at Adams Shed on Saturday, Nov 30 and Dec 7, The Lolly Bug on Sunday, Dec 1, and The Old Hartley Post Office Cafe on Sunday, Dec 8 between 9am and 10.30am.
Ukulele Group
Lithgow, every Tuesday
The Lithgow Ukulele Group meets at the back of Lithgow Library every Tuesday at 10am. All are welcome.
Community Festival
Lithgow, November 30
A free community barbecue will be held at Queen Elizabeth Park as part of the Lithgow Community Festival, to be held on Saturday, November 30 from 11am-2pm. On the day, you can try out new hobbies and explore local community groups and services.

Choral celebration
Lithgow, December 1
Lithgow Community Choir and Blue Mountains Community Choir will present a combined end of year choral concert for friends and family at Hoskins Uniting Church. The choirs present their new repertoire from their year (as well as some old favourites) led by musical directors Sue Capper and Rowen Fox. All tickets are $10, available at the door, kids are free. Join in the hall afterwards for afternoon tea.
Memorial service
Lithgow, December 1
A service to remember those who have passed away in will be held at Hoskins Memorial Uniting Church on Sunday at 9.30am. During the service the names of those people for whom funerals have been held in the church over the last twelve months will be read out and family members or friends of the deceased will be encouraged to come forward and light a candle in their memory. Afterwards there will be an opportunity for any person present to come forward and light a candle in memory of any loved one they have lost.
Screening
Lithgow, December 1
The Lithgow Valley Film Society is presenting an Art Sunday this week titled 'Home by Christmas' (PG, 2009, New Zealand). A dramatized documentary memoir based on filmmaker Gaylene Preston's interviews with her father about his World War II experiences, it has been reconstructed with actor Tony Barry as Ed Preston. It will screen at 2pm at the Main Street cinema.
Tree lighting
Portland, December 1
Kicking off the Portland Christmas Festival, there will be an official 'Lighting of the Tree' at Mick Moore Park in Wolgan Street at 7.30pm, with entertainment to be provided by St Joseph's and Portland Central School.
Shopping
Lithgow, December 5
Enjoy night-time shopping in Main Street, Lithgow, on Thursday, December 5 from 5.30pm to 8pm along with community entertainment. At 7.30pm the official lighting of the Christmas tree will be held.
Carols by Candlelight
Lithgow, December 6
Lithgow St Paul's Anglican Church on the corner of Roy Street and Railway Parade will host a service of classic carols and the timeless Christmas story followed by family fun with face-painting, balloons, jumping castles, activities and food fronm 6.30pm.
Toy run
District, December 7
The Lithgow district street machine enthusiasts are already collecting toys, tinned food and books to aid local charity Christmas appeal. Call Dave in Lithgow on 6352 3045, Les in Portland or Wallerawang on 0417 650 586 for pick up or drop them in by December 7 to the Bowenfels Newsagency, Bill Evans Auto Repairs, Lithgow Bearings and Industrial Supplies, R&A Chainsaws and Mowers and the Wollemi Bakery, all in Lithgow, Wallerawang Bakery or B&L Livestock & Real Estate in Portland.
Community carols
Lithgow, December 12
Zig Zag Public School will be hosting its annual community carols with all the trimmings at 6pm. Join in the fun of singing and the chocolate wheel before a visit from the jolly man in red.
Fri-Yay fete
Portland, December 13
Portland Central School will host a Fri-Yay Fete and fun fair from 12pm. It will include a cafe, music, art, markets, games and food. Free entry. All are welcome.
Ulysses toy run
District, December 14
The local motorcycling fraternity will again be coordinating the collection with the annual Ulysses toy run from Portland to the Cooerwull School playground. Donations up that date can be left at the Portland Newsagency, Wallerawang Bowling Club, Lithgow Bunnings, Readers Heaven, Bike Stop and Lithgow Glass, or at the school playground on December 14. Start thinking how you can help. Last Christmas the support groups struggled to accommodate all who had registered for help.
