On Tuesday morning the air quality rating for the region was between 112 and 139 which is listed as 'poor' on the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) website.

"Air quality could be a problem for susceptible people," the DPIE alert states.

"People with lung disease are at greater risk from exposure to ozone, while people with either lung disease or heart disease are at greater risk from exposure to particle pollution.

"The general population is not likely to be affected when the AQI [air quality index] is in this range."

Meanwhile, the largest bushfire burning in the region is the Gospers Mountain fire which has reached 188,508 hectares and is listed as being controlled.

While a 54 hectare bushfire burning off the Glow Worm Tunnel Road at Waratah Ridge is listed a under control.
