The two fires at Dinner Gully and Waratah Ridge have been brought under control.
Chifley-Lithgow Rural Fire Service stated heavy plant, water bombing aircraft and ground crews worked through Saturday afternoon to limit the spread of the blaze.
A rapid aerial response team (RAFT) was sent in, with water bombers working over the fire. Newnes State Forest, which was closed to the public on Friday, will remain closed until further notice.
No property was in danger from the latest fires.
Work continues on the Gospers Mountain fire, which was also believed to be sparked by lightning back in October.
A community meeting was held in Glen Davis on Saturday to give the community an update on the situation.
A little rain on the fire grounds raised spirits, but restricted the ability of aircraft to continue to work the western edge of the fire due to low hanging cloud, the RFS reported.
It has burned more than 188,000 hectares and is still in the process of being controlled.
