The first of these games was against CBC Golden Oldies at Wilberforce, where the Wildfires came out on top. The Wildfires scored 4/180 batting first with John Emms and Glen Campbell both being retired in their 30s. Chris Menchin added 27 and Clive White was 29 not out.
In reply, the opposition were all out for 141. Of the Wildfire bowlers, Dave Hartley, Glen Campbell, Chris Menchin and Paul Curran each took two wickets. Clive White also had a good game as wicket keeper taking two catches and a stumping.
Last weekend, the Wildfires travelled to Windsor to play the Hawkesbury Golden Oldies who proved a little too strong.
Hawkesbury batted first and made 179 which included a few retirements. The best of the Wildfires bowlers were Dave Hicks with 2-23 and Tony Burrows 2-35. The Wildfires manages to make 6/114 against some very accurate bowlers. At one stage the Wildfires were 4/12 off the first 12 overs. Of the batsmen, Mike Burns and Paul Curran both retired for 30 and Steve Walsh added 27.
Even though the team were outplayed, they reflected on having won three of their last five games with one game to go before the Christmas break.
