High winds are expected as a cold front crosses southern and central parts of NSW on Thursday morning, November 7. It is expected to be followed by another on Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned.

Mount Boyce has already recorded wind gusts of up to 83km/h between 3am and 4am on Thursday morning.
These systems are expected to bring vigorous west to northwesterly winds to parts of the southern and central ranges.
Damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are possible for eastern parts of the Southern and Central Tablelands. In alpine areas above 1900m, peak gusts will reach in excess of 110 km/h.
Winds are expected to ease by Saturday morning after the passage of the second front.
Blizzard conditions are possible about the Alps on Friday and Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology warns. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that back country travel be postponed until conditions improve. Katoomba is among the locations to be affected.
Warning from State Emergency Service:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
- Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
