Not everyone has the good fortune of having a special Christmas with gifts for their children so the street machine enthusiasts will be out collecting,as they have done for the past 25 years,to give these kids a great Christmas.
In just a few weeks it will be Christmas so as usual the Lithgow district street machine enthusiasts are already collecting toys, tinned food and books to aid local charity Christmas appeals.
With so much unemployment at the moment in our local area our toy run has never had so much importance.
The annual Toy Run will be held on Saturday, December 7 in Lithgow from 10am proceeding to Wallerawang Bakery for a Santa stop, on to B&L Livestock and First National Real Estate in Portland then back to Lithgow.
If you have any unwanted toys or books in good condition lying about please phone Dave in Lithgow on 6352 3045, Les in Portland or Wallerawang on 0417 650 586 to have them picked up or please drop them in by Saturday, December 7 to the Bowenfels Newsagency, Bill Evans Auto Repairs, Lithgow Bearings and Industrial Supplies, R&A Chainsaws and Mowers and the Wollemi Bakery, all in Lithgow, Wallerawang Bakery or B&L Livestock & Real Estate in Portland.
A huge thank you already goes out to everyone who has donated to the toy run already, including Jack and Jill Preschool, as the support so far is just outstanding.
Keep an eye out for Santa driving the old 1964 Holden stationwagon covered in tinsel followed by the convoy of helpers in utes on Saturday morning, December 7.
Come on everyone, let's give those local needy children a Christmas they'll remember for ever.
