Portland residents had fun at the Portland RSL club where they could watch the race live, enjoy a Chinese luncheon and compete for the honour of 'best hat' and 'loudest shirt'.
Staff even got into the spirit wearing their own fancy hats, while serving customers.

Many residents had come with family members, the youngest enjoying it all from the comfort of a high chair.
The Lithgow Workies held its annual champagne breakfast to kick off a day of fashion and horse racing, followed by a fashion show later in the day.
Other race day festivities around town included a buffet lunch at Club Lithgow, live race action at the Lithgow Workies and fun at Wallerawang Bowling Club.
