The course which offers a Certificate III in Hospitality takes students through food safety and handling guidelines, customer service work, and most importantly how to make a good coffee.
Students are also able to get their Responsible Service of Alcohol licence and their Responsible Conduct of Gambling training.
"It is five days of getting rounded skills for the workforce, and helps them to establish how to deal with people that have cultural differences," Sureway hospitality trainer Peter Sisinni said.
"The course allows for people who haven't worked before, or haven't worked in a long time to transition back into the workforce, because it can be quite challenging."
People of all ages attended the workshop, from young students to people aged 55.
"There are lots of hospitality places in this area so these skills will come in handy for the students," he said.
"It gives incentive and the confidence to put themselves out there, I love watching the students leave excited."
Student Jasmine Loyd said the course had been brilliant.
"I hadn't done something like this in years, so I've really loved it," she said.
"If you aren't doing anything and are thinking of getting into a course I would recommend it, it gives you a purpose.
"I just wish I had done it sooner."
Sureway employer relationships coordinator Vanessa Mackay said that the company would now be looking at getting their students work experience.
"It would be unpaid work experience with a financial benefit for the businesses that take the students on," she said.
"We always try to match the client and the business the best we can so that both parties find the experience enjoyable."
