A property on McManus Road in Portland went up in flames around 4pm on Sunday, October 27. Smoke was seen coming from the residence and emergency crews were called to attend the fire. On arrival the property was found to be engulfed in flames. Portland and Wallerawang Fire and Rescue worked together to put out the house fire. According to a Portland RFS spokesperson, the laundry was the main point of the fire but flames could be seen coming out of windows. More than 50 percent of the house was destroyed according to an RFS spokesperson. The house was a deceased estate and was uninhabited at the time of the fire. Police believe the cause to be suspicious, as detectives allegedly found suspicious items at the scene.
