The weird and wonderful turned out from around the region and far and wide to join in on the fun.
People dressed up as ghosts, ghouls, zombies, fairies, witches and much more to show their community spirit.
The annual Lithgow street parade showed off the many creative costumes and followed the Samba Trombada drumming band who excited the crowds.
Entertainment continued into the night with the Old School Band and The Cockroaches on stage at Cook Street Plaza and several smaller shows around the street.
Lithgow City mayor Ray Thompson dressed as Jason from the iconic 'Friday the 13th' film, welcomed visitors at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
"To see everyone gathered in this town square... in the jewel of Lithgow, is amazing," he said.
He wanted to thank those who came along to celebrate Halloween in Lithgow and took the effort to dress up.
Lithgow Tourism manager Simon Francis said he was overall pleased with the turnout on the day.
"Considering the early morning thunderstorms and wind, it could've gone either way.
"We were thrilled with the amount of people that filled the street, in retrospect we were probably down from last year's numbers but that was due to the weather," he said.
He said he was extremely happy with how the festival ran and he had received positive feedback.
"Feedback is always mixed but it's been pretty positive apart from negative comments about the weather which is something we can't control but again, the night was great.
The bands were well received, there were more market stalls and the local businesses had plenty to offer," he said.
Mr Francis also wanted to thank event organisers and sponsors.
