Les Barnes, Warren Kennedy and Ted Healey played Jeff Madden, Dave Robson and Jim Bannerman in a semi final of the Triples Championship.
A see-sawing contest had firstly the Madden team leading 10-1 after six ends, only to caught up and then led themselves by a gritty Barnes trio.
Barnes was to lead 16-13 at end 16 but a seven shot turnaround had Madden in front 20-16 after 19 ends.
Securing five of the final six ends, proved vital in allowing Barnes and his team to consolidate and come up with a very good win and thus book a spot in the final.
The end score of 23-21 to Barnes was indicative of a hard fought match and the boys deserved their win.
The second semi final was between Ray Sharwood, Greg Hilliard and Rob Clarke, who played Jeff Brown, Richie Bilby and Ian Townsend.
Clarke, a relative newcomer to the City Club had sterling support from Hilliard and Sharwood as they played beyond their experience to set up a 10-2 lead after four ends.
They dug in for the fight and held on as Townsend's trio picked away at their lead. Behind 14-23 at end 17, Townsend's boys won five consecutive ends to only be behind by two shots.
With three ends remaining, Clarke led 23-21 and pulled off a fine victory by winning two of the final ends to eventually succeed 26 shots to 23.
