With only 13 films being selected for the final judging, the finalists will be announced on Wednesday, October 23 and will be screened at Lithgow Halloween on Saturday, October 26.
Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson said the concept of a new film festival to complement Lithgow Halloween has proven to be a winner for Lithgow with unparalleled international exposure.
"The competition was profiled on the website 'Film Freeway' alongside Cannes, Sundance and other established film festivals," he said.
The competition requires short Halloween-themed films, up to a maximum of five minutes duration with a G-rating, to be shot on a mobile phone or tablet.
Films will be judged in two category areas, 'most creative' and 'best performance'.
To view the films there will be three screening sessions held at the Lithgow Valley Community Cinema at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm where residents can vote in the 'People's Choice' film category.
The sessions will be approximately 50 minutes in duration and session attendees will be obliged to stay for an entire session to complete the voting.
All finalists will be screened at an awards presentation at the Lithgow Workies on Sunday, October 27 at 1pm.
