Lithgow Quota's annual craft fair officially opened on Friday night, October 18, with guest speaker, artist Wendy Hawkes, celebrating Lithgow's artisan heritage.

"In this area people have been making things for thousands and thousands of years, from possum skin blankets, kangaroo cloaks, headdresses, tools, weapons, all of these things have been made here for thousands and thousands of years," she said.
"And then when the first European settler came here, Andrew Brown, he set up the Lithgow woollen mills, making things.
"I feel like Lithgow is this amazing hub... a place where we've always made things."
There was a guest performance by Sarah Lewis, a member of the Lithgow Musical Society, who sang for the crowd.
The Quota Craft Fair will be held at Hoskins Uniting Church Parish Centre on Bridge Street, Lithgow on Saturday, October 19 from 9am-4pm. Entry is $2.
