Youth Care coordinator Bonnie Bassett said the idea was to get members of the community to share their tips on how to maintain a healthy head space.

"We got them to write down their tips on getting into life, learning skills for tough times, creating connections, eating well, getting active, getting enough sleep and to cut back on alcohol and other drugs," she said.

She said when someone wrote a tip they received a healthy headspace tool kit.

"We gave away tool kit packages which have a little item for each one of the seven tips for young people to take with them for suggesting their own tips," she said.

Ms Bassett said it was also an opportunity for people to come in and have a look at the Lithgow centre if they hadn't been before.

"We're just trying to engage with the community and promote a healthy head space," she said.

headspace Lithgow have also organised for a mural to be painted next to its laneway entrance by the youth of Lithgow with the help of local artist Le Grizz.

"Le Grizz will be painting the headspace shapes and then young people will be creating a work of art within each one and that will be happening over the rest of the school holidays," Ms Bassett said.

She said the reason for the mural was because art is popular among clients and was a good way for people to express themselves.

"Lithgow is also quite an artsy town and it [the mural] will fit really beautifully with the community and our service," she said.

"Being a youth service having youth contribute to something like this is really important."
