Professor Brydon is one of Australia's most eminent child health experts and will be based at Lithgow while also having commitments in Sydney, Ballarat and Wagga Wagga Clinical Schools.

Formerly the Chief Executive of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network (SCHN) and after a long and distinguished career in paediatric care, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.

For more than 30 years his involvement as an administrator, leader, educator and paediatrician has made a positive contribution to the lives of sick and injured children from across Australia.

Prof Brydon has been a passionate advocate for rural populations as well as for the importance of investment in early childhood.

His interest in rural communities and Aboriginal health has been demonstrated in his advocacy for children from across a range of state and national initiatives.

Prof Brydon has been an active clinician over the many of the years of his management career and has served on many not-for-profit boards across the government and non-government sectors, always seeking to influence policy and practice for the benefit of children and families as well as healthcare more broadly.

"I am very much looking forward to working closely with the Lithgow community and expand on the many existing ways the Notre Dame team can contribute to its positive development.

"Whilst teaching and research are key domains for any academic leader, I also hope to advocate for ways in which our future generations are best set up for success and especially in their early years of life," Prof Brydon said.
