MOST items on their list of things to do our Council does well. But when there are exceptions to the Mission Accomplished it's little wonder that there's room for criticism.

And when Council is aware of its misfires and doesn't hasten to rectify then the critics are even more vocal, and justifiably so.
The season of the great outdoors is with us and Lithgow's delightful showplace, Queen Elizabeth Park, will be a magnet for visitors and locals alike.
But there's still no water available for park patrons - unless they're inclined to risk the toilet block hand basins.
The only lonely park bubbler was for some mysterious reason disconnected many month ago and Council has never explained why.
Park regulars are frequently asked directions to the nearest water. Club Lithgow perhaps?
It's shameful and an embarrassment.
The other mismatch is the placement of a new and much bulkier litter bin on the Main Street footpath outside Subway.
It's perfectly located to create a site obstruction at the intersection and is copping increasing flak.
There's a duty of care issue here and a short relocation shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
Don't hold your breath on either issue.
Holiday bonus
PLENTY of visitors around the place (including the waterless QE Park) over the holiday weekend and a particularly busy time for food and coffee outlets.
Once again our two lakes were the biggest drawcards. Pity about our fickle weather that staged U turns at times but it was the same through to the coast.
Next weekend will again be busy with the usual overflow from the Bathurst car races.
The problem is obvious

Really? That has to be the understatement of the year.
QUESTION: The problem is obvious so why are so many evil looking knives with no obvious legitimate purpose freely and legally available over the counter, even here in Lithgow?
ANSWER: A government asleep at the wheel on the issue.

WONDER how long it will be before those in our LGA on Oberon Dam water face restrictions.
The trigger point is in the mid 20 percent full and it's been inching perilously closer and closer for quite a while.
