With a crowd of over 400 at the Civic Ballroom, those attending saw a great floor show by the band and the dancers from the Lithgow Highland dancers.
The rest of the night saw great entertainment from the White Brothers whose music managed to get the dance floor full on most occasions.
The official opening heard a rare and slightly emotional talk from drum major and president, Ray Burgess, who complemented the families and friends of the band members for their ongoing support.
The Mayor, Ray Thompson, was then given the pleasant duty of introducing the official guest, Cherie Legge who returned for the night to officially open the ball.
Cherie gave an interesting insight into her time with the band which lasted for just over 10 years.
The band do a great job throughout the year playing at many events, notably Anzac and Australia Day celebrations.
They also travel away to a number of towns to play and compete.
Members of the band are very talented and welcoming and are a great advocate for Lithgow when they are away.It was good to see a couple of returning members who have re-joined the band.
However, they continue to look for new players of any ability who are interested in joining the band "family".
Next year will be the 50th running of this fantastic annual event. If anyone is interested in becoming a member for what will be a very exciting occasion, they should contact Joanne Cambridge on 0407514082.
Be part of the fun.
