Musical talents from schools around the region performed at the annual Bathurst Eisteddfod from September 4 to 13 at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre and came home with great results.

For La Salle Academy it has been quite some years since the school entered the eisteddfod.
Imogen Della Bosca and Shannon O'Regan placed third in the duet section.
The school's choir of 17 went up against choirs of nearly 100 and held their ground. They received highly commended in the Choral Championship and Vocal Ensemble and placed second with its combined choir with St Patrick's School in the years three to nine Choral Championship.
Shannon O'Regan received highly commended in the Vocal Championship and was awarded with the most prestigious Vocal Award in the eisteddfod as Most Promising Vocalist of all age groups.
La Salle Music teacher Mary Wright said it was amazing to see the way in which her students carried themselves knowing they would be scrutinised, judged and compared in a competition.
St Patrick's had six groups of students compete in the eisteddfod.
The string ensemble, which has only been playing since last term, was awarded second place.

The senior choir, year two choir, kinder percussion ensemble and year one percussion ensemble all came home with highly commended.
St Patrick's music teacher Kate Scott said all students had been working hard to prepare and gave wonderful performances in their sections.
"It was such a wonderful opportunity for the students to perform and share their talents with everyone," she said.
Zig Zag Public also attended the competition and sang 'Time enough to give' and 'Higher ground'.
For Portland Central its Primary Percussion Group and Choir were awarded second in the small school's choir section and third in the small school's percussion.
Portland's K/12 instrumental group also competed at the Orange Eisteddfod on Wednesday, September 4 and placed first. The Primary Instrumental group placed third in their section.
The school wanted to send out a special thank you to music teacher Mrs Ossig-Bananno for her committment.
Cooerwull Public's talented students were awarded highly commended after their performance at Bathurst. The students had been under the guidance of Mrs Sheehan and spent hours of their time practicing.
