Shortly after 7.45pm on Monday, September 16 a motorcycle rider was seriously injured during a crash on Williwa Street in Portland.

The 24-year-old Lithgow man riding a Harley Davidson was thrown from the bike and landed on the edge of a footpath near a tree. The impact caused the rider's helmet to come off and the bike landed on top of him.
He suffered significant head injuries, a collapsed lung and broken rib, Lithgow VRA captain Ian Bennett said.

He was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Westmead Hospital where he remains in ICU in a serious but stable condition.
Emergency services including Lithgow Police, NSW Ambulance, Lithgow FRNSW and Lithgow VRA attended the scene.
The Police Forensic Services group later attended the accident scene and the investigation is ongoing.
