Lithgow detectives were called to the prison at 11.40am after reports about an assault on a 25-year-old inmate.
Three men are expected to face charges after police reviewed CCTV footage of the incident, which took place in the exercise yard.
Police allege the man was assaulted by three fellow inmates, a 20-year-old, a 21-year-old, and a 23-year-old. The victim suffered a puncture wound to the side of the neck, which was not life-threatening, and burns from hot water from a kettle.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Crash
Police are asking for anyone with information into a crash at 3.30pm on Friday to come forward.
It was reported that a silver sedan turning from Tank Street into Macauley Street, Lithgow, lost control and slammed into bins at the front of a property.
Bins and a letterbox were damaged in the incident and it is alleged the car left the scene without making any attempt to notify the owner of the damage.
