The Lithgow Workies Club held its ClubGrants morning tea presentation on Wednesday, August 28 in conjunction with Club Lithgow.

A total of 27 groups from around the Lithgow area were in attendance with the Workies Club giving out over $50,000 and Club Lithgow handing out $4000.
Lithgow Workies general manager Geoff Wheeler said he was honoured to be in a room with wonderful volunteers.
"You all make significant contributions to this community and without you there would be a lot of suffering people, so thank you for continually contributing," he said.
"Here at the Lithgow Workies we pride ourselves on our continual commitment to helping our local community and people. We also take the ClubGrants Program as an opportunity to thank all the volunteers and community organisations for all that they do to support our community as well."
The ClubGrants Program supports local community groups and helps make a difference in areas such as education, cultural integration, supporting people with disabilities and employment projects.

Each group was asked to speak about their organisation and what they will spend their funding on.
Colleen Mahon from Beehive said they will spend their money on new chairs for their growing group of 120 members. While president of the Lithgow Band, Cr Maree Statham said their money will go towards new uniforms for the group.
Quota will be using their money to continue fundraising for a new blood pressure machine at Lithgow's private hospital, as well as teaming up with Lithgow High and Zig Zag Public School to get speech therapists.

LiveBetter will be getting more vehicles for their senior members, allowing more trips for the elderly. While Aunty Helen Riley will use the money to support their annual NAIDOC celebrations in the Capertee Valley.
Ashlea Werner from HIPPY Bowenfels said the grant they received will go towards their Imagination Library, which will allow kids to get a free book every month.
The morning tea also gave the volunteers a chance to talk with other like-minded volunteers about the work they do and to get ideas from one another.
