The alert was issued by the NSW Office of Water on Friday, August 23.
Following the recent warmer weather, the latest results issued by the NSW Office of Water have indicated that blue green algae levels have risen at Lake Lyell.
With the presence of blue green algae in the water, Lake Lyell is not suitable for any activities that involve direct contact with the water by humans or animals.

Sampling of the Lakes will continue and an updated alert status will be reported when information becomes available, according to Lithgow City Council.
