Workies' fill-in captain and striker Ben Sheehan bagged a hat-trick, leading the side to a 3-1 victory. He also scored his 100^th goal for the club.

This is the young gun's fourth season with Workies. Sheehan has been filling in as captain for the last few weeks, and proved to be a real asset.

"It was great to get my 100^th goal for the club but having the team behind me makes my job a lot easier," Sheehan said.

He said it was good to beat CSU and get the minor premiership wrapped up.

"We still have two more games to go in the regular season before finals but we have our main goal set to winning the premiership.

"A lot of the current players haven't been minor premiers in a first grade competition as yet so it's a great achievement we're all proud of as a club," he said.

Coach Jock Hunter said first grade has had a very good season finishing in top eight of the Bill Cullinan Cup and now achieving the minor premiership.

"This is the second time in the club's history that we have achieved the minor premiership with the last one back in 1994.

"I am very pleased with the commitment of the players, not only in first grade but across all grades," he said.

In second grade Workies Red currently leads the competition with Workies Black sitting in fourth with two rounds to go.

Third grade is still in the running for semis, with finals starting at the beginning of September.

First grade will take on Panorama Black at home on Sunday, August 25 at 3pm and will play at home again the following week against Abercrombie at 3pm.
