A good field was happy to be back on the Lithgow Golf Club fairways on Saturday in beautiful sunshine after last week's Saturday event that was cancelled due to heavy snow.

The event was a two ball best ball versus par with the winners being the pairing of Geoff Thompson and Michael Bennett who were among those to tee off last.
Even though the weather was superb, golfers still had to be wary of the speedy greens that demanded the full attention of the golfers.
Thompson and Bennett combined well to finish with a score of +9 with the runners up being the early morning pairing of Peter Haley and Steve Hall on +8.
A single event was held in conjunction with the best score going to Peter Thompson who finished with the good score of +4.
The best scratch scores in each grade went to Andrew Burton on 73 in A grade, 81 in B grade to Gary Keen and Paul Bailey in C grade on 90.
Nearest to the pin awards went to Greg Guest, Andrew Burton, Anthony Oldfield, Dave Thompson and Brad Gordon.
Those pairings to figure in the Ball competition were Darren Hunter and Brad Gordon, Brian Judge and Max McCann, Ray Thompson and Andrew Burton and Paul Bailey and Rod Clarke. Balls cut out on +7.
Next Saturday's event will be a stableford with the usual Wednesday and Friday competitions open to all.
The Blue Mountains Vets competition will be held at Lithgow on Monday, August 26.
Last Friday's nine hole winner was Howie Fisher on 27 points and ball winners were Paul Stewart, Josh Jones and Brian Giblett. Balls cut out on 22 points on a countback.
