Lithgow's motorbike racers Harley Henning and Adam Doonan took on the Yellow Mountain Cross Country race on August 3 and 4.

They raced between the townships of Tottenham and Condoblin. Each year the race starts and finishes alternately at either centre and this year it started at Tottenham.
Henning and Doonan took on terrain consisting of open red soil plains and rocky hills, with just two fuel stops provided.
Henning said he had a terrible start to the day with dust pushing him back to 47th but it wasn't long before he rose to the occasion.
"I finished day one 22nd outright then after day two I finished 18th overall and came fourth in 500cc class," he said.

He said with 213 entries it was a very fast and competitive field.
"Overall the weekend was good other than the extremely dry conditions and horrendous dust," he said.
Out of the 213 racers 55 of those did not finish, among those was Doonan.
He said he was off to a good start in fifth place before a high speed crash ended his chances of finishing.
"The accident happened with 20 kilometres to go on the first day, everything was looking good until that happened," he said.
Doonan is now on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery.
