Two budding Lithgow workers have been honoured at Skillset's annual awards as apprentices or trainees of the year.

Jordan Ticehurst took out the top award of Skillset Apprentice of the Year Award for his outstanding achievements at Thales Australia throughout his Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical Trade) apprenticeship.
Jordan has recently commenced his Mechatronics degree at Western Sydney University to further grow his engineering skills and knowledge.
Lithgow trainee Kianna Mason was awarded the Skillset Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Apprentice or Trainee of the Year for her performance at Parke Street Specialist Centre in Katoomba during her Certificate III in Business Administration traineeship.
Kianna spoke of the value that this traineeship has had on her life and encouraged school leavers to consider a traineeship if they're unsure as to which career path to take following high school.
Glen Esk and Rose-Lea Corriedale studs were acknowledged for their contribution to the college with the Agriculture Award. Rick Hoolihan and his family have been extremely supportive of Skillset Senior College's Corriedale Program, which has resulted in multiple awards for the school at the Royal Easter Show and Royal Bathurst Show, along with countless opportunities for students to learn and build skills in sheep husbandry practices.
More than 200 people gathered at Skillset's Flannery Centre in Bathurst to recognise the best apprentices, trainees, organisations and students from across the Central West and Orana regions at the annual Skillset Awards ceremony recently.
Each year, Skillset recognises individuals, businesses and organisations who have excelled in employment, skills development and education programs
Central Tablelands Local Land Services were awarded the Land Works Award which recognised its role in hiring and training local people for the improvement and maintenance of their natural environment.
TAFE NSW was awarded the Mentor Plus Award and was endorsed for its strong working relationship, which has allowed Skillset to provide intensive support to over 1400 apprentices and trainees across the mining and construction industries.
Skillset General Manager Jane McWilliam said the awards were a great opportunity to recognise the most passionate individuals and businesses in the region.
"We love to recognise our most passionate and talented apprentices, trainees, students and organisations," she said.
"It's amazing to see the transformations that our people go through and their achievements should be commended."
Skillset CEO Craig Randazzo took the opportunity to congratulate all the winners.
"We are committed to building skills, jobs and a sustainable future in our communities and it is gratifying to see the outstanding results that are being acknowledged here today. We couldn't do it without the determination of our students and the support of our host businesses and clients and we enjoy taking this opportunity to recognise their achievements at the Skillset Awards," he said.
