'The Whales Of August' is a 1987 American light drama film directed by Lindsay Anderson and stars Bette Davis and Lillian Gish as elderly sisters. Also in the cast is Ann Sothern as one of their friends, and Vincent Price as a peripheral member of the former Russian aristocracy. Produced by Carolyn Pfeiffer and Mike Kaplan, it is based on The Whales Of August by David Berry. It is a delightful story of ageing.
It will screen on Friday, August 16 at 10.30am and Sunday, August 18 at 2pm at the Society's Main Street cinema.
