Luckily the Workies brought some strong defence in the second half and managed to get a 34-14 win at Wade Park.
With Lithgow's Sam Rushworth scoring a try in the first 10 seconds of the match, and Harry Cornwell converting the kick the Wolves got off to a strong start but it wasn't to last as the Hawks scored three consecutive tries.
Tom Blanka got a double within 10 minutes and fortunately for the Wolves both tries didn't have the kick successfully converted.
Orange's James Goldsack managed to score his first try in the match in the 13th minute and with a successful conversion by James Carr-Cook the Hawks were up 14-6.
Workies captain coach Jimmy Reinhardt said the side did "all right" in the match against Orange.
"We were down going into half time and we really had to dig in... luckily we were able to put a fair few points on the board," he said.
Lithgow's Brendan Van Veen, Lleyton Lothian, Brent Brogan and Ben Glasson each scored a try and Scott McCann got himself a double in the second half.
With Cornwell successfully converting two of the kicks, that took the final score to 34-14.
"Our defence really stood up in the second half, which was great, we didn't let Orange in," Reinhardt said.
Reindhart said that everyone on his side put in a strong effort.
"Everyone in the whole team lifted going into half time, especially Brendo [Brendan] Van Veen, Scott McCann and Nick Miller, they really stood up and got us across the line," he said.
With a bye this weekend, the side is hoping to rest up and focus on fixing any injuries before facing off against Mudgee Dragons.
"Playing Mudgee in Mudgee is going to be difficult and really hard as they always are," he said.
Going into the final round of the regular season, Reinhardt is looking towards finals.
"When you head into finals everything changes, it all goes up another level, so we are going to knuckle down and do better with our discipline, not giving away penalties and ball control,"he said.
"We need to get everything right, the game plan we have been running with this year has been working for us so we need to continue and not make silly mistakes here and there."
