The gardens in the village will be open on September 7 and 8 and September 14 and 15 between 10am and 4pm.
The Rydal Railway Station turns 150 this year as does St Matthew's Church. Both will be open for you to see and the Station Master's Residence in now available for short term bookings. The Rydal Village Association now has the lease of this beautiful building which means it will be well looked after by local people and Rydal will be able to use parts of the building such as the Ladies Waiting Room for the village archives.
The Sculpture in the Park exhibition will be displayed in Pioneers Park and you can help choose the people's choice award with your vote. You can also vote for the winning prize in the art competition. Sculptures and paintings will be for sale.
There will be a wide range of music including the popular Canobolas Pipe Band and Scots School Pipe Band. Several folk music groups will be playing in the gardens and the Lithgow City Orchestra will be playing both Saturdays in the big country Bark Ridge garden on the Hampton Road. The Lithgow City Band will play in the Rotunda in Rydal.
This year there will be parking at the Showground and your entry ticket will give you access to the free hop on hop off bus that will take you around the village.
The barbecue will be running all day in the Greg Featherstone Park and at the Bark Ridge garden. Morning and afternoon teas will be available, and home make cakes and biscuits will be for sale outside the Union Church. There will be lots of other stalls in the village as well as at the showground.
This year Daffodils at Rydal is supporting Lithgow Legacy and Lithgow St Vincent de Paul. Brochures can be downloaded from www.rydal.com.au.
This is a great community event, supporting local charities, local musicians, local arts and crafts. $15 entry takes you to all these gardens and displays.
