Four distortion mirrors, which transform the shape of the passerby, have been installed on the shopfronts of Intimate Dreams and Stitchings.
The mirrors, created by Logan Signs, are the latest in a string of artworks commissioned by Lithgow Tidy Towns Laneways Project.
Tidy Towns secretary Kathleen Compton said, as always, the aim was to provide something a little bit different for visitors to discover in the central business district.
"We hope it gives people a quirky look at themselves," she said.
The permanent installation is the latest in a series of permanent and temporary installations around the CBD, from the Marjorie Jackson-inspired mural to the most recent addition, a large butterfly perched on a business wall.
Ms Compton said residents could look out for new artworks, which would be coming soon.
Shop owner Glenda Anthes said she was very supportive of the Tidy Town projects and was excited to have her shop be part of the display.
Ms Anthes said she would like to see the town continue to embrace artworks and believed there could be significant opportunities in our footpaths.
"I would like to see them do some 3D street art on our footpaths [after they are repaired]," she said.
"I think it would be brilliant. It would be a massive tourist attraction."
