Lithgow City Council held a plastic free morning tea at Lithgow Library on Wednesday, July 17 to show Lithgow residents the benefits of not using plastics.

Mayor Ray Thompson, deputy mayor Wayne McAndrew and councillor Cass Coleman were all in attendance.
The morning tea coincided with 'Plastic Free July' a global movement that provides resources and ideas to help people reduce single-use plastic waste everyday at home, work and school.

Cr Coleman said she was happy with the turnout.
"If we can help pass on some information to one person to help reduce the use of plastic, then that's fantastic," she said.
She also gave some tips for people who might not know how to go about reducing the use of plastic.
"I am extremely passionate about getting rid of plastic straws in our everyday life, so I carry around my metal straw," she said.
