Despite Cyms being the first to score for the match, Workies right winger Keelan Bresac hit back with a try of his own.
With a successful conversion from fullback Josh Howarth, it put the Lithgow side into the lead.
But Orange fought back hard and managed to get two consecutive tries in a row to take back the lead 12-6.
Lithgow's strong second rower Greg Alderson showed his power as he managed to get a double for the Wolves, scoring two tries to take the Lithgow side 14-12 at half time.
Workies Wolves coach Graeme Osborne said he was happy with the sides fifth win in a row.
"They decided to show up and play a bit of footy, it was good, we scored some nice tries," he said.
The Workies then demolished the second half scoring 40 points in 40 minutes.
Tui Oloapu kicked off the try scoring in the first 10 minutes of the second half for the Wolves, showing his power as he took on several defence to cross the line.
Workies showed some strong defence work as they held off some solid plays from the Orange side.
"We kept the foot down, played some flat and fast footy in the second half, playing up the middle of the ruck, that was good," Osborne said.
Bresac scored his second try for the match beside the post, with 30 minutes remaining in the second half.
To take the score out to 32-12, second rower Corey Willmott decided it was his turn to score a try next to the post.
With some flashy passing and some solid team work, Willmott made a strong run before passing off to Eli Felton so he could score his first try of the match.
Howarth continued to make successful kick conversions despite the windy weather.
At this stage the Orange side couldn't even get a look in, with Alderson running straight under the post for his third try of the match.
"Yeah, Greg [Alderson] had a big game, I thought Tui [Oloapu] played well, Keelan Bresac on the wing come in and inserted himself quite well," Osborne said.
About 10 minutes later Cyms finally got their head back in the game and second rower Aiden Balker ran the length of the field to score the only try for Orange in the second half.
Orange's Luke Petrie scored his only kick conversion of the match to take the score to 44-18.
"The effort was there from our guys, even towards the end, where we nearly scored a try with about 10 minutes to go, so I wont doubt the effort from the boys," Cyms captain coach Dom Maley said.
Not being done with scoring Alderson scored his forth and final try for the match beside the post with 10 minutes of the match remaining.
In the 35th minute of the match Felton scored once more to take the final score to 54-18.
This win gives the Workies a four point break from the Orange Cyms who are just behind Lithgow on the ladder.
"It was really good, we really needed those two points to consolidate a spot in the semis," Osborne said.
With a tough match against Blayney on the road next week, Osborne said he is just 'looking for another win'.
Maley said it was disappointing not to get the win against Lithgow.
"We came here hopeful of a win and to go square with those guys on the table, but unfortunately they played over the top of us," he said.
According to Maley, his side has continued to be plagued with injuries.
"We got a few injuries early on in the game to add to our growing injury toll, but honestly it's a credit to Lithgow because they were very dominant," he said.
Orange will be on the road again next week to take on Cowra, and depending on how results go, will be fighting for that coveted fifth spot.
"We just have to get a bit better in regards to slowing down the play the ball and not letting them roll on top of us," he said.
