The Wolves put up a strong defensive effort against the Oberon side and came out victorious, 14-6.

Eli Felton was the first to score for Workies, putting them in the lead 4-0, with only 16 minutes left in the first half.

Keelan Bresac then showed off his skills with a try just before half time, taking the Wolves to lead 10-0 at half time.

"It was 10-0 for a little while but then Oberon scored in the second half to take it 10-6 but then with five minutes to go we managed to get another try," Workies coach Graeme Osborne said.

Corey Willmott crossed the line in style to take the final score to 14-6.

"I think we played as well as could be expected, when playing Oberon at Oberon, it is always a unique experience because you know it is going to be ugly and tough footy," Osborne said.

"We knew going up there would be a struggle, a tough and ugly win."

Osborne said that everyone played their role in the match.

"It was a low scoring game so it didn't give a chance for one real standout individual, everyone did what was asked and expected of them," he said.

"The team's defence really won them the game, the amount of work done in the red zone, that 20 metre line and the try zone really won them the game.

"For Oberon to only score one try, that was really good work."

Osborne said that, once again, it was the side's discipline that let them down on the weekend.

"I think it is just our discipline that was lacking on the weekend, we just need to work on our structures and stop unforced errors and ball hand overs," he said.

The Workies will now take on Orange CYMS at Tony Luchetti Sports Ground on Saturday, July 13.

"They are another side that is on the up and have got a few important players back, they played a good game against Panthers and like us they're trying to maintain their position on the table," he said.

"It will be us playing hammer and tongs to get the win."

The Lithgow Workies reserve grade came away with another win without even stepping foot on the field with Oberon Tigers forfeiting.

The under 18's also came away with a win 24-16 against the Tigers side while the league tag girls had a draw at 16-all.
