Ms Lamborn said she hoped as principal she would work "in a partnership with the staff and the school community to maximise learning outcomes through high expectations for students, staff and self."

Ms Lamborn said she had always wanted to be a teacher from the time she was a little girl.

"My grandmother was a teacher in New Zealand before immigrating to Australia in the 1920's," she said.

"She would sit on the verandah of the cottage overlooking the creek as the cows grazed, reciting Banjo Patterson to me and cutting words from the newspaper that she would teach me to read."

Ms Lamborn said she developed a love of reading at an early age.

"My schooling at Portland Central continued to develop my love of learning, I have clear memories of teachers who helped me reach my potential," she said.

"Ensuring every student has a strong start and students finish school well prepared for the path they choose to take in further education, training or work is an important part of my role as a principal."

Ms Lamborn said preparing young people in the Wallerawang area while maximising their learning and wellbeing was a priority.

It would be a challenge, she said, to prepare young people in the Wallerawang area for their future "as safe, responsible and respectful citizens in a complex and dynamic world".

Ms Lamborn started teaching in 1994 at Greenacre Public School before she moved back to the Lithgow area to teach at Cooerwull Public School.

She then moved to Lithgow Public School as the itinerant behaviour support teacher before gaining a position in the support unit.

Her first position at Wallerawang Public was as the learning support teacher before she moved into a classroom teacher position.

In 2010, she was appointed as assistant principal and in 2012 commenced as relieving principal until 2014. Then once again took up the position in 2016.

Ms Lamborn has worn all the hats during her time at Wallerawang, from being relieving principal, assistant principal and instructional leader.

Ms Lamborn said choosing a career highlight was difficult, when every day was incredible.

"Every day is a career highlight for me, education is a great place to work," she said.
