Mrs Kipp, who has been employed with the post office for more than 10 years, was surprised with a bunch of beautiful flowers and balloons for her final day.
She was also surprised by a visit by the Mercury, where her husband Don worked for more than 50 years.
She thanked her colleagues, and many of the regular customers, who made her time at the post office so rewarding.
"I want to thank the people who accepted me as I am," she said.
"They have become like family."
Mrs Kipp said she was very much looking forward to her retirement.
The post office will have a more formal farewell dinner for Mrs Kipp on July 6 at Club Lithgow.
