Former Kandos player Matthew Hundy, 28, died after a crash near Rylstone on Monday, June 17.
With Kandos unable to form a side in this year's competition many players were recruited by the Lithgow Bears.
Players took to the field wearing Kandos colours and black armbands as a sign of respect and in memory of the valued football player, teammate and friend.
Hundy played for the Kandos Waratahs for over 10 years in the New Era Cup competition and was a valuable player to his side.
He scored many tries and was named as one of the most influential New Era Cup players in 2018.
If statistics were documented, the Waratahs lock would have led the league in hit-ups.
In paying tribute to Hundy, the Bears club stated there were not many forwards in the Central West that would consider a 10-run, 30-tackle effort a slow day at the office but for Hundy, that's exactly what it would have been.
Former Kandos and current Lithgow Bears players Nathan Annetts, Tyrone Lyvidikos, Michael Parsons, Ethan Parsons, Lachie Parsons, Scott Wilkinson and Paige Gallagher have been influential players for the Bears this season.
According to Bears coach Blake Collins they were respected players and the club was proud to have them and proud to stand by them in a time of need.

"It goes to show how much respect our club has for these players who have lost a dear friend and a good mate.
"Hundy was a good friend to lots of players throughout the comp and we wanted to show our respects and be there for one another because we are not only a club, we are a family.
"We all feel this pain together, Matthew Hundy will always be remembered on the field as a bloke who gave 110 per cent and always produced some great football.
"It's a sad loss at such a young age, he was loved and cared for by so many and he will be greatly missed," he said.
A graveside service for Matthew Hundy's family and friends will be held on June 27 at 10.30am in Rylstone.
