So far the hall has seen 52 security windows fitted, walls plastered, a new coat of paint and Crimsafe security doors and tanks installed.

Fatima Hall caretaker Stan Williams said, special cementing had been done to the outside entrance with safety handrails.

"The office has also been done along with new carpet which was laid on Thursday [June 13]," he said.

Mr Williams said all local builders and painters were employed to do the renovations and the carpet was laid and supplied by Carpet One Lithgow.

"We started renovations on January 8 and it will be finished by the end of the month, these guys have done a great job," he said.

Fatima Hall houses, feeds and entertains at least 50 aged care people every week with Gorrie Ban, according to Mr Williams, and the upgrade had been a long time coming.

"It's so exciting that it's finally happening, we're very proud of it and it's so beautiful it's not funny," he said.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said he was honoured to give Gorrie Ban a helping hand in getting their facility up to standards and the upgrade would boost the spirits of the local community.

"Fatima Hall is a much-needed facility for people to gather for interaction, fun and camaraderie as many are separated from family, living alone or have a disability of some kind.

"I have got to congratulate all the volunteers of Gorrie Ban, they work tirelessly every Monday, they work on behalf of the community so it feels fantastic to give some money towards this group," he said.
