A new supernatural thriller will be shot in Lithgow and the production company behind it is looking for Lithgow talent to be involved in the project.
'End of Night' will be a debut project for new production company, Ausrine Productions, and be shot in multiple locations around Lithgow between August 24 and September 8.
Director Oscar Molinari said the production company was focused on incorporating the community into its projects when filming.
'End of Night' will be produced for the streaming service market rather than for traditional distribution through cinemas.
"The whole idea is to produce smaller budget feature films and expand from there," Mr Molinari said.
"We are passionate about getting as many people involved as we can."
The thriller takes place in an unnatural darkness, created by an unknown supernatural threat. The settings will be largely indoors, with residential homes used as staging points for the characters to escape from whatever is hunting them.
Rydal Showground will have its moment, as the setting for many of the outdoor scenes.
"I got married out there, so when we realised we needed a big shed, it was a perfect fit," Mr Molinari said.
"It's an open area, and there are not many light sources, so we will be able to control the light."
The company is also hoping to gain consent to stage a "very small shoot" at one of Lithgow's most iconic structures, Blast Furnace Park.
"With the stairs and everything on site there, it has a maze-like quality to it," he said.
The decision to use Lithgow as a shooting location was a practical one. Mr Molinari's wife, Jennifer Collins, comes from Lithgow, and family and friend connections were able to supply locations and support for filming.
All the roles in the film will be cast following auditions at Lithgow on July 13 and 14 at Lithgow Library. The production crew will also be looking for people interested in helping out in crew roles.
You can find details at the production's website, www.ausrineproductions.com, or you can email directly to endofnight@ausrineproductions.com.
Mr Molinari asked people interesting in auditioning to email a headshot and a brief description of their experience.
