Lithgow's open men's Hockey side took part in the Hockey NSW open men's State championships over the Queen's birthday weekend at Moorebank from June 8-10.

The squad achieved its best result in division one for many years.
The weekend started at 9.45AM on Saturday with Lithgow playing Newcastle 1, with the team suffering their only loss of the weekend, going down 4 -1 to the eventual winners of division 1.
The next game was against North West Sydney 1 last year's division 1 winners, with Lithgow winning 3 - 1.
Their first game on Sunday was against Tamworth 1 with Lithgow scoring a 4 - 2 win.
The last pool game for Lithgow was against Sydney East 1, with Lithgow in complete control, winning 6-1, this result leaving Lithgow second in pool A.
The crossover match was against the first placed Illawarra 1 team from pool B.

It was a hard fought entertaining game, with Illawarra scoring first to lead one-nil at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Lithgow scored two unanswered goals to lead at half time 2-1. With Illawarra scoring late in third quarter to come back to two all.
Illawarra was the first to score in the fourth and last quarter to lead 3-2 but Lithgow responded two minutes later to tie up the scores at three each.
With five minutes to go Lithgow pressed hard knowing they needed a win to progress to the final and Illawarra only needed a draw, but the side were unable to score, despite going very close on a number of occasions, after the final bell the game ended at three all.
Congratulations to Hayden Dillon and Brandan Horner who shared the player's player award and to Horner who was the tournament's leading goal scorer with eight goals.
