Bathurst MP Paul Toole met with some of the local students visiting as part of the School Leadership Program, including Tess Sheather and Patrick Woodrow from La Salle Academy at Lithgow and Alexis Cathie and Darion Williams from Portland Central School.
Mr Toole said one of the pleasures of being a State Member was to welcome students to Parliament House.
"The program provides a great opportunity for students from all around the state to represent their school, become aware of democratic processes and experience the environment of Parliament House," Mr Toole said.
"Tess, Patrick, Alexis and Darion were given an insight into what goes on in Parliament and gain an understanding of a wider perspective on leadership and government.
"There are so many elements to Parliament House - the minute you walk up the steps you enter what is not just an iconic building but what opens up before you and within the walls, is a journey into the history of our State.
"Many people who take the time to visit, just like the students today, see a very different aspect and it is one that often creates a feeling of awe, intertwined with a greater understanding of the majesty of the building and of parliamentary procedures."
