The start of the winter season will be a chilly one, with the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye map showing falls predicted for the morning between 7am-10am for Lithgow, Jenolan Caves, parts of the Blue Mountains and Orange.
Motorists have been put on alert this week, with snow falling in the region on Monday and Wednesday.
Solid falls fell in the alpine areas around Yetholme and Oberon, leaving settled snow, on Monday, May 27. .
In Lithgow itself, flurries swirled but the intense winds ensured that nothing stayed on the ground. It has been a cold week, with Lithgow maximum temperatures falling to 8 degrees since Monday.
There will be a slight increase in temperatures over the weekend, predicted to hit 12 and 13 degrees, before falling into single digits again next week.
