The Putty Road Memorial wall was opened in 2010 by a committee and volunteers to honor and remember the truck drivers lost their lives on the The Putty Road and for drivers who travelled the road and have since passed away. The committee organises a Putty Road service every year for families and friends to remember their loved ones.
The Putty Road was a regular truck route connecting Singleton to Sydney from the years when the road was mostly gravel until the 1990s when the M1 freeway was constructed.
The Putty Road was notorious for its 140km of mountains, winding road and crashes.
