"This is part of the Girl Guides service to the community," Lithgow Girl Guides leader Cheryl Rutherford said.
The girls who attended were stationed at the different exists of the store with buckets for donations from shoppers.
"We will also be doing some activities in Woolworths for the girls," she said.
The Red Shield Appeal is an annual fundraising event that runs over April, May and June, with funds going towards The Salvation Army's community programs and services such as family welfare assistance, refuges for women and children, homeless shelters, emergency and disaster relief and drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

This year the Girl Guides are celebrating the importance of empowering girls and young women, and so are doing their annual biscuit fundraiser.
The Lithgow girls will be using the money to go towards the rent of the building they use as a hall.
"The money is going towards renting the hall for the girls," Ms Rutherford said.
The range of the biscuits the girls are selling includes the traditional vanilla biscuit, the buttery shortbread which is gluten free and a bite sized mini chocolate chip biscuit.
If you would like to order any biscuits you can contact Francie Laurenson on 0469 838 576.
Lithgow Girl Guides also has current vacancies for more girls aged between seven and 14 to join if interested. The girls meet on Monday at 4.15pm and finish at 6.15pm during school terms.
