A resident's dog has been shot, after two hunting bows were stolen from a property on Molybondite Road in Yetholme.
Unknown offenders broke into a property and forced entry to a residence. Two hunting bows were stolen and a cabinet was knocked over but not opened.
The owner's dog was then shot using one of the stolen bows.
Police will be conducting a fingerprint examination.

A 54-year-old man will appear in Lithgow Local Court after being charged with several offences including armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
Police allege the man was involved in three separate incidents in the vicinity of Wylde Street in Lithgow on Wednesday, May 15.
At the time of the incidents police were called and the man was arrested at the scene.
A Holden Cruze motor vehicle was stolen between 8pm on Sunday, May 19 and 7.30am Monday, May 20 in Littleton.
The car was black with the registration number CR19UK.
In a separate incident sometime between May 1 and May 14 an unknown person has forced their way into a shed on Coalbrook Street and stolen a 2018 Honda CRF250.
The owner was away during this time and noticed the theft on his return.
