A lot can change in a year in nursing, yet for two Lithgow Hospital graduate nurses, Beth McGrath and Kristen Sutherland, no matter the challenges thrown at them, their passion to provide quality healthcare for the community remains steadfast.

Having now completed their studies and rotations throughout the hospital's wards, the two nurses say their time at Lithgow has helped them to grow and continue to develop new skills.
"We've learnt heaps, and we're still learning every day," says Beth.
"I love working with such a good team. It's a small hospital so we all work together. Our confidence has definitely grown working here," Kristen said.

Developing a supportive and professional workplace was one of Lithgow Hospital general manager Jill Marjoram's proudest achievements.
"As a rural hospital we definitely have a lot more variety and opportunity to provide hands on experiences compared to the inner city," she said.
"I am thankful our senior medical and clinical staff at the hospital have the willingness and desire to teach the next generation of doctors and nurses."
"As I walk through the hospital's corridors amongst all the hustle and bustle I'm confident our talented team is delivering high quality care for our local community and building the capacity to deliver this well into the future."
