There's a friendly atmosphere at the pre polling centre operating on Lithgow's Main Street.
You'll know some of these faces. They've been manning the footpath to hand out 'how to vote' cards for Calare's candidates.
It has been an extremely busy season for those handing out, with 3615 people voting at Lithgow's pre poll centre as of Tuesday, May 14.
Veterans at the art of handing out the sheet are not surprised by the friendly air surrounding Lithgow's polling.
"During the State election, a lady came in with a walker and we were asked if someone could take her down the street. So I put my pamphlets down and helped her," Ian Stewart, who has been passing out Shooters, Fishers and Farmers cards, said.
"I came back to find the others were handing them out for me."
A former timber industry worker, Mr Stewart said he had turned to SFF after becoming disillusioned with the major parties.
"I was in the timber industry for 45 years, it's our main renewable resource and it's just being shut down," he said.
"I've got three kids, four grandkids, and I worry for their future."
Handing out for Labor candidate, Dr Jess Jennings, Ned O'Connor from Portland said he was very optimistic.
"Change is in the air," he said.
"I've noticed that, since people have been listening to the debates, they've been coming over to Labor policies."
Greer Ashworth, dressed in green and sporting a Greens badge, said change was necessary. She said she had been aware of environmental issues since she was at school.
"It needs protecting, but we've got a prime minister who brings a lump of coal into parliament," she said.
"It's time for a change."
Lithgow's Peter Rafferty, handing out for Calare MP Andrew Gee, said as a retiree he didn't like the idea of someone sticking their hand in his pocket, referring to Labor's franking credits taxation policy.
"If you're a self-funded retiree, it makes it very difficult," he said.
